Objectives:

• Opening political and public discussion about gender quotas (seminar for law-makers, workshop, publicity in media)
• Awareness raising about the advantages of gender quotas and gender equality in politics (publicity in media, campaign through social media, releasing new publication, advocacy etc.)
• Enforcing gender quotas at least in one political party (advocacy, educational activities and systematic cooperation – in other projects)
• Gaining new allies and supporters of gender quotas (campaigns, workshops, Coalition for equal political participation) 

Citizen driven discourse with an aim to create space for advocacy, more transparency and even anti-corruption initiatives.



Objectives:

• Challenge Design: developing a working group of civil society, media and IT stakeholders to define the Challenge.
• Community Input and Launch: creating and launching a framework for the Challenge based on input from the working group and its community members.
  
  
• Project Recruitment to create communities of interest around projects and a Project Gallery unique to the Challenge.
  
  
• Project Selection: defining and implementing a voting mechanism (shortlist and final) to determine the finalists.
  
  
• Project Camp and Presentation: implementing a social innovation camp style event – finalizing projects for launch and presenting them to the public and media in partnership with the partners.
  
  
• Incubation of projects, reporting and ‘boxing’: the 3 finalists will be supported with dedicated staff in technical and managerial skills as the sites go through the crucial start up phase.

The goal of the project is to set up conditions for development and sustainability of public benefit organizations based on a shared NGO-sector understanding on what a good concept of public benefit should be like.



Objectives:

• To establish a communication platform of Czech nonprofit organizations to discuss the Public Benefit Status.
• To ensure the comments and remarks to the author of the new Act (the Ministry of Justice).

The goal of the project is to:

A. Strengthening the LGBT+ community by mobilizing and consolidating LGBT+ initiatives and groups in Prague, forming a concentrated advocacy and communication strategy;

B. Further advancing and advocating for civil rights and liberties of the LGBT+ community; C. Promoting cross-communication and exchange of information to gain broader support and understanding for the LGBT+ community

• Encourage Czech private donors to be more generous and involved not only in charitable causes but also in publicly beneficial advocacy initiatives
• Increase the amount of Czech domestic funding that is available to support grass-roots advocacy efforts in the Czech Republic.

• A challenge grant of USD 50 000 with a maching ratio 1 : 1, which Nadace VIA will raise from Czech individual donors in two years (2012 and 2013)
• At least USD 100 000 will be available in small grants to advocacy initiatives across the Czech Republic over the period 2012 through 2013
• Related fundraising / project costs will be covered from the Applicant‘s own resources. CEE Trust support will be used only for „straight match“.

 The goal of the project consists of:

•  short-term measures : to secure immediately resources to keep the organization running without decreasing drastically the internal structure and activities of the organization;
• long-term strategy: diversification of the sources and securing “over-the–end-of–the year” reserve.
  
  

The project’s objectives are:

• At stage one: acute remedy of the actual critical situation, raising enough of resources to bridge the period before next installments of multiyear grants come in;
• At stage two: creation and implementation of a short-term strategy (in the timeframe of one year) to secure 2012 grant-making budget and stabilizing the organization;
• At stage three: creation and start of implementation of long-term strategy (timeframe of 3 years) to secure longer stability of the organization and its grant-making budget and to prevent repetitive situation at the ends of fiscal years.

The goal of the project is to  increase public awareness about the problem of air pollution in Moravskoslezský region and encourage the general public to actively participate in solving this problem.

 Its objectives are:

• To increase public awareness of the severity of air pollution in the Moravskoslezský region (and Czech Republic respectively) by providing data about air pollution, which will be easily accessible and easy to interpret;
• To provide the general public (and in particular most affected groups such as old people and mothers of young children) information about the health consequences of air pollution;
• To provide tool for sharing people’s experience with the problem of air pollution and to enable the public to network  and lobby more effectively in addressing this problem (networking on a local level).   

 The goal of the project is:

• to convey to the public on a regular basis the expert opinion of often discussed, important, innovative or unprecedented measures of the socio-economic nature affecting the quality of life of the country citizens and to create better conditions for the public and political debate and the passage of the reform measures bringing the systemic changes in the Czech health care;
• to implement evaluation of the Government’s activities in the mid-term (2 years after the parliamentary elections, June 2012) and to compare already implemented reform measures of the Government, which were introduced after forming the Government in July 2010.

The goal of the project is to secure long-term funding for watchdog activities in the Czech Republic.  Its objectives are to develop and strengthen the fund established under the OSF Prague thanks to the last project funded by the CEE Trust. The fund will raise financial sources for watchdog activities. The fund will have 2 elements – permanent and through-flow.

The long term goal of the project is the introduction (by mid-2013) of a new national climate change law (a Climate Change Bill) that will ensure binding annual CO2 cuts

The objectives are:

• to stimulate public and political debate concerning the idea of the law on reduction of GHGs (Climate Change Bill);
• to gain support from the public, local authorities, trade unions, business and politicians for discussions on reducing emissions, and thus, to strengthen the engagement of Czech citizens in the decision making process at various levels.

The goal of the project is to develop and strengthen young people’s trust in democratic system and to further identify, motivate and support individuals and groups of active young people that have already proven that active and spontaneous civic participation of youth is an existing phenomenon that is desirable and with potential for further multiplication.

The objectives are:

• to deepen and broaden the understanding and natural adoption of democratic values and principles by the young generation;
• to increase the capacity of the formal educational system to provide a constructive environment for development and strengthening of the trust and understanding of democratic values and civic principles;
• to provide motivation, guidance, support and networking opportunities for active young people engaged in civic activities;
• to rehabilitate the image of young generation in the eyes of a general public via outreach and presentation of the work of a network of young active people and their peers.

The goal of the project is to create a vivid better synergy between several leading Czech environmental NGOs with national outreach, in such a way as to increase public acceptance of their work in areas education, awareness raising, counselling in field of sustainable development, environmental policy work.

The goal of the project is to promote the right to fair trail through: • raising awareness of the public about the right to the reasonable length of proceedings and compensation for its violation, • advocacy for systemic changes which would ensure that the compensation procedure is improved and contribute to prevention of delays in judicial proceedings, • advocacy and litigation aimed to improve the whole system of compensation provided to victims by the state in cases of damages caused by unlawful decision or incorrect official procedure. Among the activities planned by the Applicant are: – Providing free legal counseling and litigation of 5-7 selected cases regarding delays in proceedings and other forms of damages caused by unlawful decision or incorrect official procedure. – Preparation of analysis on cases lodged with the ECtHR and relevant ECtHR case law as well as domestic case law. – Preparation of policy paper including concrete suggestions to improve the situation. – Advocacy activities towards the Ministry of Justice and other stakeholders. – Creation of a specialized web page and comprehensive publication/manual for public. – Organization of 2 public discussions (Brno and Prague) with participation of experts, journalists and the public. – Publication of 2 press releases, 2 expert articles and 2 newspaper articles.

The long-term goal of the project is to achieve a higher standard of human rights and liberties protection and civil society development and cohesion in the Czech Republic through the practical use and methodological development of the method of strategic litigation. The Applicant plans to achieve the goal by: • Complex solution-making of particular (at least 7 during the grant period) cases of human rights and liberties violations through the means of strategic litigation on the national as well as international level. • Handling strategic legal disputes in front of administrative and judicial institutions of the Czech Republic and in front of relevant international human rights monitoring bodies; • Continuing of special section of the grantee’s website and a mailing-list to continuously inform the public, media and experts concerning the advancement and results of the strategic litigation method application; • Involving the university students of law and social sciences into the project implementation through the internships and through the special teaching subject in the frame of university curricula.

Open Society Fund supports watchdog and advocacy activities in the Czech Republic since 1999. According to the research commissioned by the Fund last year, the following tasks should be carried out for improving the functioning of Czech watchdogs: • strengthening awareness of watchdog agenda, activities and results toward wide public; • establishing a Watchdog Fund under the OSF Prague; public relations activity aiming to increase individual and corporate donorship; • strengthening the existing networks of watchdogs in close cooperation with our partner organizations Čmelák and Oživení in order to share the know-how and best practices (through an active web forum) and increase efficiency

The aim of this project is to ensure sustainability and viability of Europeum – Institute for European Policy as a major Czech think-tank devoted to EU-related issues in the crucial bridging period and to enable it to develop a long-term, strategic approach to its activities. The project also aims at enhancing the role of the Czech civil society in the public policy debate on European issues and strengthen its capacity to influence the Czech policy-making on EU-related issues.

The goal of this project is to present opinions and ideas of professionals and experts on legal and regulatory proposals and open a candid public discussion on the benefits and shortcomings of such measures. The project aims to provide opinions, reflections, open discussions on the future shape of the health care in Czech Republic.

The project aims at writing off the coal reserves under inhabited areas in North Bohemia and at involving North Bohemia citizens into decision making processes.

The goal of the project is to stimulate a public debate about visa procedures achieve a greater degree of transparency and fair approach towards visa applicants by monitoring the visa procedures.

The main objectives of the project are: o to influence the content and the quality of public debate on migration both in the media and among the policy-makers o to create an effective monitoring and control mechanism of the Czech NGOs regarding the decision processes on migration policy and alien legislation o to form and guarantee the existence of a well-founded expert opposition to any political or administrative tendencies towards more restrictive treatment of third-country nationals o to identify the needs for positive development and to propose the correspondent legislative or administrative reforms.

The objectives of this project are: 1/Initiate a public debate on lobbying and its regulations – despite the government declaration from January 2007 to adopt a certain regulation of lobbying no concrete steps have been conducted yet. Therefore we have decided to start a public debate on this issue, to form a forum of experts and involve media into this process as much as possible and 2/Formulate a concrete legislative proposal and advocate it publicly – the second crucial objective of this project is a formulation of concrete legislative proposal which could be used as a suitable tool for advocacy work. Advocacy part of the project counts on public seminars/conferences and media articles.

Presented project aims at: raising the civic engagement of „usual“ citizens and empowering critical thinking, communication skills and self-consciousness that encourage the orientation in the society and the active approach to social and private life as well. The project has following objectives: to involve target group (students) into civil society topics and a personal development through the interactive pedagogy methodology; to support target group (students) in the implementing their new experiences, skills and knowledge into their life and to create at least 2 civic engagement project by students

The main goal is to prepare Capacity Development Plan for fundraising, marketing and communication and to secure diversification of financial sources for non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic. Based on the results of a planning procedure (see 2.3.) that will be performed by external experts in presence of the Foundation’s employees, a Capacity Development Plan will be prepared to enhance both the professional and personnel capacities of the Foundation, leading to its sustainability so it can continue providing finances to support NGOs in the Czech Republic.

The Fulbright-Masaryk Fellowship for NGO leaders is now a well established program with proven results. Building on the experience of the previous two years of running this program, the interest of NGO leaders is continually growing. This is the only program that can offer NGO staff ways of expanding their expertise through a combination of studies and internship, performed in USA. Monthly stipend and travel allowance should be complemented by a book allowance. The alumni of the program can well demostrate the long term impact of their stay both by showing higher qualification and by utilizing new contacts in their work. Co-funding of the program is requested for the up-coming three years, $5,000 each year.

The main goal is to promote women´s rights and gender equality in Czech and Slovak societies through increase of financial stability of women´s rights NGOs in Czech and Slovak Republics and promotion of social responsible philanthropy and social solidarity in the respective societies.

The goal of the project is to raise young people’s participation in civil society as regards handling critical public issues. The project uses materials from One world human rights film festival as an impulse for activating young people.  

The project’s goal is to recreate a possibility of powerful and meaningful citizens» local watchdog activity, by creating the possibilities A) to enforce personal responsibility of those breaking laws and B) to protect the municipal property against malfeasance by the right of legal action.

This projects has three main goals: 1/Generate independent sustainable income for local partnering communities, and pioneer innovative cooperation between foundations and local governments; 2/Increase grant budget of the Czech foundations through investment with better return, and thus be able to support more civil society programs; 3/Enhance slow development of renewable energy sources in the Czech Republic

This project wants to help to decrease the extent of corruption in public contracting in the Czech Republic by enhancing the accountability of the involved institutions

The main goal of the project is to contribute to the financial sustainability of the non-profit sector in the Czech Republic and greater participation of NGOs in structural funds programs through providing repayable grants with the aim to change the position of the bank sector towards issuing the bridging loans for the Czech NGOs. NROS will achieve this goal by running a pilot, three years, project during which it will provide repayable grants to NGOs and it will create the Manual on the assessment of NGOs creditworthiness that will be distributed to commercial banks aiming at introduction of bridging loans to NGOs as a normal banks’ product after the end of the project. Thus the main responsibility for program administration lies on NROS with close partnership with commercial bank. Before the start of the program, NROS will sign the contract on cooperation with the private bank – Poštovní spořitelna, which will provide the revolving loan in value of 50mil CZK (app 2 600 000 USD) that will be used for repayable grants for NGOs.

This project plans to develop a Guide to Public Procurement Procedures (Preparation of Terms of Reference, projects selections, projects implementation, monitoring and evaluation), using experiences from the selected EU countries. The Guide will be mainstreamed within public policies at national and regional level.

The project aims to create conditions to ensure that responsible bodies will take effective action against exploitation and human trafficking. La Strada wants a win-win situation for all parties involved. The organization will try to raise awareness on the need to broaden discourse on human trafficking to include labour exploitation in other sectors than sex sector as well as to labour exploitation that is not necessarily an outcome of trafficking and to advocate for reliable and accessible information on the nature, mechanisms, trends and extent of exploitation and trafficking in all industries and for mechanisms for ongoing collection and analysis of such data to be established to inform policies and ensure that the policies respond to real-life situations.

The goal of the project is to mobilize local public through providing seed project funding and training to Czech grassroots community initiatives in order to:

• encourage and empower local people to have a voice in local politics and community issues, advocate for community interests, stimulate a better performance of local administration;
• develop community spirit for joint action;
• encourage cross-sectoral partnerships on a community level;
• develop skills of local actors.

This project aims to «watchdog» the public service, corporations and lawmakers by using focused advocacy to establish real change. Ekologicky pravni servis will research, develop and use new strategies and methods to enforce governance and increase public participation, test their applicability and sustainability, and increase public awareness of the issues.

The major goal of this project is to help in decreasing the extent of corruption in management of municipal property in the Czech Republic.

This project has two major goals. The fist goal is to publish the independent printed medium in the Czech Republic, which will be concerned with investigative journalism, watchdog activities, social problems in the Czech Republic, human rights, minorities.. The second aim is to help vendors (homeless people, Roma and other minorities, people who have served a prison sentence, the long-term unemployed, handicapped people) to be integrated back into society.
