| Project Description | a) Goal and objectives To provoke young people’s awareness of global issues and thus to increase their civic competences and stimulate their engagement The objectives are: 1. To acquaint students with global issues and create a debate on their country’s place in the global context and their personal role. To allow a group of selected students to participate in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) – a forum for discussing global concerns in a context that closely parallels the "real world". 2. To develop young people’s skills of public debating, expressing, defending a political position, policymaking and interaction with different institutions. 3. To present them with an opportunity to become a part of social and institutional networks on local and global level. b) Activities 1. Getting in touch with the Embassy of the country the NMNU team will represent; 2. Getting in touch with the UN representatives in Sofia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and various NGOs; 3. Selecting the participants; 4. Preparation and training of the delegate group for their participation at NUMN; 5. Taking part at the NMUN – the group of 10 delegates and a faculty advisor will fly to New York and attend a four-day long Conference National Model United Nations; 6. Feedback and planning of the workshops in Sofia; 7. Holding the workshops; 8. Visibility activities. |
