| Project Description | As a novel instrument in a society with no significant traditions of practical anti-discrimination, the ADL needs to be assessed in terms of its practical effect based on the fashion its enforcers (the courts and the specialized equality body) construe it, and on the influence it has on the lives of underprivileged individuals and groups. Such a review is prerequisite for future informed and targeted policy-making designed to maximize society’s chances for substantive equality in practice. Key for the validity of any such review is the involvement of civil society and beneficiary groups, whose feedback is essential for a proper analysis of the achievements and failures of the normative regime. This project means to help correct the status quo of informational and analytical blankness by gathering and analyzing data regarding the content and quality of the case law produced under the ADL, as well as the perceptions of representatives of the vulnerable groups meant to be protected by the law as to that law’s accessibility, practicality and effectiveness. |
