From April 19th to 22nd 2012 up to 2,000 women’s rights activists from around the world will gather in
The AWID Forum is the largest recurring event of its kind and brings together women's rights leaders, donor agencies, development practitioners, grassroots leaders and activists from diverse sectors and regions around the world. The AWID 2012 Forum will explore how economic power is impacting women and the planet, and facilitate connections and strategizing among the very diverse groups working on these issues from both human rights and justice approaches. It is our hope that participants will leave the Forum having deepened their understanding of economic injustice, and feeling equipped to engage in economic debates, and devise strategies to transform and reclaim economic power.
This Forum will be a highly relevant global space for feminists and women’s rights advocates from all regions and sectors to come together, shaping agendas that can influence policy makers, donors, and our own movements as well. As such it is crucial to ensure that the experiences, voices and visions of women from the CEE/SEE/CIS region have a strong presence and that they can contribute to enriching the Forum through the range of women’s organizing experiences in the region. We also hope they can find value in solidarity from and engagement with this large convening of women’s rights activists from around the world.
